Major Engineering Projects & Initiatives

Technical overview of state-level drinking water supply and sanitation projects driven by APHEA engineering cadres across Assam.

Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) – Assam

Har Ghar Jal – Universal Rural Piped Tap Water Supply
40,000+ Schemes Planned & Executed

The Jal Jeevan Mission provides functional household tap connections (FHTC) to every rural household across Assam. APHEA engineers spearhead technical feasibility surveys, detailed project reports (DPRs), and quality assurance from hilly frontier terrain to flood-prone riverine char areas.

Core Engineering Interventions:

  • Surface Water Systems: River intake wells, rapid gravity filtration plants, and transmission mains along perennial tributaries.
  • Water Quality Mitigation: Automated Iron and Arsenic Removal Plants (IRPs/ARPs) deployed across geogenic contaminant zones.
  • Solar Dual-Pump Schemes: Sustainable solar PV powered pumping units implemented in remote off-grid tea garden belts.

Swachh Bharat Mission – Gramin (SBM-G Phase II)

Sustaining ODF & Solid/Liquid Waste Management (SLWM)
ODF Plus Model Village Standard

Phase II focuses on environmental cleanliness, transforming Open Defecation Free (ODF) villages into ODF Plus Model villages with institutional wastewater and plastic segregation infrastructure.

Key Cadre Operations:

  • Greywater Systems: Community soak pits, waste stabilization ponds, and biological phytorid filtration.
  • Solid Waste Management: Village-level segregation sheds with plastic baling and organic compost pits.
  • Flood-Resilient Toilets: Elevated plinth twin-pit structures designed for riverine alluvial soil.
